1. Rapid Intervention: An Introduction TRT - 25:42
This title describes the use of a Rapid Intervention Crew (RIC) at structure fires. Reviewed are NFPA 1407 standards and training requirements necessary for a firefighter to participate on a RIC. Also described are the common tools that a RIC uses, how to stage tools on scene, and preparedness concepts such as the 360 survey and softening a building. MAYDAY situations are defined as well as the procedures for RIC activation, radio communications and rescue considerations.
2. Search & Rescue Operations TRT - 30:43 This title describes MAYDAY activation and the search and rescue procedures a RIC will follow. Skills include declaring a MAYDAY and firefighter self-rescue techniques such as wall breaching and the long lug out escape method. Methods of RIC air management are described as well as the use of RIC search tools such as thermal imaging cameras. Demonstrations include techniques for searching using webbing and the rope assisted search procedure (RASP) and search and tethering techniques using hoselines. Different RIC air delivery techniques are presented for use on a downed-firefighter such as the use of the Universal Air Connection and the Emergency Breathing Safety System.
